Riverside Aquatics Water Polo Disclosures
2007-2008
Riverside Aquatics Association provides the most comprehensive swimming and water polo program in the Inland Empire area. Our team’s philosophy is to teach young swimmers and water polo players swimming skills, water polo skills, discipline, teamwork, and of course…fun!
Riverside Water Polo offers players the opportunity to improve their fundamental skills, as well as increase their understanding of the game. Our belief is that through quality year round coaching, our athletes will continue to grow and improve. One of the highlights of our program is the opportunity to qualify and compete each August in the Water Polo National Junior Olympics. Things to know:
Club Name: Riverside Water Polo Club Number: 241 Zone Name: SOPAC (Southern Pacific)
TOURNAMENTS:
Teams are put into different tournaments and leagues during the year as they become available. Our coaches determine if a particular tournament would be advantageous for a team to participate depending on that team’s ability at the time. Entering leagues, tournaments and setting up scrimmages are left to the discretion of the head coach and his assistants. Transportation to and from tournaments is the responsibility of the parents. Tournament fees vary by age level and session. Please see the session hand out for your player’s specific fees. All tournament fees must be paid before a player will be allowed to participate in the game, tournament or league.
TEAM PARENTS:
Each team has a team parent volunteer who will keep the team informed as to what is going on with regards to practice times, tournaments, team rosters, etc. This parent will help the coach with all the busy work in order for him/her to spend more time coaching the players.
POOL SITES AND PRACTICE SCHEDULES:
Our home pool is Sippy Woodhead. Other locations are available depending on the need. Practice times and pools vary with the different age groups. All teams practice at least 2 evenings a week. Schedules are determined by the coaches at the beginning of each month, depending on the up-coming tournaments scheduled, pool sites and pool time that is available to us. Because we are at the mercy of others we need to be flexible. Practice is mandatory unless cleared by the coach (so please communicate with your coach). The whole team is affected when a player is not there.
TEAM APPAREL:
All players are required to purchase a team suit and team shirt. Please visit the Club website or contact your team parent for more information. The Junior Olympic Teams may be required to purchase additional items.
FUNDRAISERS:
We will have fundraisers during most sessions to help off set the cost of tournament and League play. Some examples are a Casino Night, Dinner at Islands, Community Players plays, a State Line Bus Trip and possibly a golf tournament. Due to the fact that we are a non-profit organization, any donations made to the program are greatly appreciated. Donations may also be used to scholarship players in need. Please contact the Head Coach if you are interested in making a donation. Thank you.
JUNIOR OLYMPICS:
It is our desire that all players will want to participate in the National Junior Olympics. For the older players, it is a great opportunity to be scouted by college coaches. In the spring, a selected group of players will get to attend a qualification tournament for Junior Olympics. The cost for participation in this tournament will be determined. JO’s usually takes place the last week of July and/or the first week in August. Teams from all over the United States participate in this event. Depending on where this event takes place determines the cost. Costs can include: air fare, hotel, tournament fee, rental vans and food etc.
We hope we have answered most of your questions: Any other questions or concerns you can contact Doug Finfrock through his e-mail: allaboutpolo01@hotmail.com
